Having worked with Ann-Marie Powell before I was delighted when she asked me to design a building for her RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden. Her garden is sponsored by the National Trust and Blue Diamond, and the design respects the legacy of Octavia Hill.
With the garden concept being one of a sequence of spaces, the design of the structure that evolved is intended as a continuation of the garden rather than a stand alone building.
Not a conventional building as such, the final structure draws on natural geometry, providing a space of sanctuary and reflection.
The structure has been beautifully made, and then installed on site, by Sam Ogilvie
The completed garden was awarded a silver gilt and voted The People’s Choice and Children’s Choice Awards
