The first project undertaken at Westcourt Medical Centre was to add a first floor to the existing 1980's building.
The latest extension to Westcourt is the external sign of a three part development programme.
The first stage was the creation of additional clinical rooms on the first floor and this paved the way for the second stage, the addition of a Pharmacy within the existing ground floor.
The new extension provides four new treatment rooms and a first floor meeting room. It also provides a revised entrance to the building giving better disabled access and a reconfigured car park which now includes full sized disabled spaces and additional parking to the side of the building.
The design of the extension draws from the palette of materials used on the original building and later first floor extension.
Although only single storey in part, the use of curved walls and cedar clad ‘sails’ is intended to give the building a strong and welcoming identity.
With only modest windows looking over the car park for reasons of privacy, the interior uses roof lighting to provide a bright and welcoming interior.
