The original Kitchen at Puttenden Manor faced north, without access to the garden, sunlight or long views and isolated from the main reception rooms.
The Clients' brief was for a contemporary design; a structure of merit, distinct enough not to be seen purely as an extension.
The scheme relocated the kitchen to the south of the building, utilising the existing Victorian sitting room extended into a replacement for the existing conservatory.
The design of the extension was inspired by geometric roof shapes found in historic glass buildings combined with the use of organic forms found in nature. The interior trusses allow the roof shape to be fully experienced inside and the design of the Johnny Grey kitchen and the architecture work as one.
